In this fast-paced area, students will learn to understand the procedures of billing, recognize the different forms used by third-party carriers, complete each claim form for reimbursement, and define insurance terminology and different types of coverage.

Students will learn the responsibilities of a medical insurance specialist, the life cycle of an insurance claim,
and the various templates for billing commercial insurance.

Prerequisite: Medical Terminology & ICD-10-CM/CPT-HCPCS Coding

The same books used for Medical Coding will also be used for this class, students will not need to purchase these books if they have already taken Medical Coding through LAVC Community Services.
