This introductory course will provide the students with a strong foundation in the Language of Medicine applicable to most medical specialties. The course takes the students through Greek and Latin word roots covering basic anatomy and physiology, pathological conditions and procedures, rules governing how medical terms are formed and used, spelling and pronunciation. This course will prepare students for employment in hospitals, clinics and private medical and dental practices. There will be weekly quizzes given to keep track of students’ progress. There may be additional reference books recommended including a medical dictionary.
This course is a prerequisite for Medical Insurance Coding. Required text: The Language of Medicine by Davi-Ellen Chabner 10
